Interbiblio is the umbrella organization of intercultural libraries in Switzerland. It cultivates and promotes the exchange of information and experience among its members and represents the concerns of intercultural libraries in politics and society.
Interbiblio is the competence center for intercultural work in the libraries.
Interbiblio promotes and supports intercultural work in the libraries in Switzerland. The
Association pursues the following goals:
- Promotion and support of intercultural libraries and public libraries with intercultural offer
- Promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity as well as intercultural exchange
- Promotion of first language and reading
- Promotion of inclusive services in libraries
- Networking of its members and promotion of the communication between them
- Ensuring education and further training offers in the field of intercultural library work
- Lobbying
- Public Relations
- Cooperation with institutions and organizations pursuing similar objectives
The Annual Report lists the activities of the competence center (in German and French).
Interbiblio was founded in 1993 on the initiative of the Federal Office of Culture (BAK) as the Verein Bücher ohne Grenzen Schweiz (VBOGS) and has been financially supported by the Confederation since then.
